Veg Cheese stuffed jalapeño Poppers Recipe

Who would not love a quick and healthy poppers for scintillating and mouth watering evening snack with cola or coffee? I thought the same to myself when I saw these green jalapeños in refrigerator the other day. Now what I did here might take a little more time than making the easy and quick cheesy jalapeño poppers but i have tried both and taste wise i like this version of veg and cheese stuffed jalapeños which I further covered with the white bread and then dipped into a thin batter of refined/all purpose flour. And after rolling it over bread crumbs, I fried them. Let me explain to you step by step :

Ingredients (Things you will need) :

  1. White bread
  2. Green jalapeños
  3. Processed cheese
  4. Carrots
  5. Capsicum
  6. Garlic
  7. Green chilli
  8. Pepper powder
  9. salt to taste
  10. oil
  11. Refined flour
  12. Bread crumbs

Preparation ( Better prepared than to be messy) :

Grate carrots, cheese and chop capsicum. Add salt, pepper, crushed chilli and garlic to it. Now mix them well like this and keep it aside.

Take the jalapeños and place a slit in between, scoop out the contents (* I added the contents to the stuffing/filler) .

Prepare a thin batter of refined flour using water.

*Jalapenos are mildly hot and so instead of using green chilli, you can also just add the scooped out contents to the fillers mixture .

Instructions (This is how i made them) :

Take the Jalapenos, stuff carefully the mix we prepared earlier into the slit. Once it is filled completely, keep it aside. Repeat it for all the Jalapenos.

Now, Take the white bread and wet it in water, squeeze out the excess water by placing it in between both hands. Wrap the white bread around the Jalapenos, it should look like this-

Now dip each of the Jalapenos into the refined flour batter, roll it over bread crumbs.

Heat oil and fry them on medium to low heat till they turn golden brown. Take them out and serve hot with sauce/dip or chutney.


I know this was time taking, although there are alternative approaches too which are less time consuming:

  1. stuff the jalapenos with cheese. Make batter of gram/chickpeas flour and dip jalapenos in it carefully. Fry them and tada! we are done.
  2. secondly, you can cut the jalapenos in two halves, place the stuffing and grated cheese on it. Now bake it in oven.

Well the stuffings can be replaced by anything of your choice, be it minced meat or soya granules etc..same goes for the batter and process of cooking. Bake it or fry it.

What to expect from this recipe?

Tastes spicy,crunchy, the cheese,veggies and the bread relieve the heat Jalapenos leave on our tongue. on whole, it will make a good snack.Health wise, jalapeño are good source of sodium and potassium, vitamin A and excellent source of vitamin C.

P.s with remaining extra filler, i also made these veg cheese toast, real quick snack made with white bread and cheese.
