In the previous post crispy banana fries i told you about the benefits of banana yeah that it has fibre,iron and potassium in large quantities,other than sodium,vit.c,vit. B-6.It is a healthy fruit.For those who don’t know what koftas are, they are round meatballs like dumplings which can be made of vegetables or meat. one of the most common vegetable kofta are bottlegourd kofta. you can make kofta of potato as well,to make bottle gourd kofta you just have to replace banana with bottlegourd and use minced bottlegourd to make balls.
Lets make our Raw Banana balls first!Things you will need are
- Raw Bananas
- salt to taste
- Red chilli powder
- pepper powder
- Gram flour/chickpeas flour
Boil raw banana for few mins. just like you boil potatoes. it will look like this after you peel off the skin –
Now take a bowl and add two to three tablespoon of gram flour,gram flour is added for binding.Add 1 tsp of chilli powder,salt to taste and pinch of pepper powder to it.you can add turmeric powder as well,mash it well and it should look like this-
Now make small round balls with your hands and fry them till they are brown.
lets make the curry now,you will need-
- 2 onions,you can add one more if you want
- 4 to 5 green chilli
- 6 to 7 cloves of garlic
- chilli powder 1 tsp.
- oil or butter of course
- cumin seeds
- cumin powder
- pepper powder
- cardamom,cinnamon,nutmeg,black pepper,fenugreek
- coriander leaves
- 2 tomatoes
Let’s make the curry paste,for that grind green chilli,ginger,cloves of garlic,cardamom,cinnamon,nutmeg together.Add 1 tsp of cumin powder,pinch of pepper powder and 1 tsp of red chilli powder to it.
chop onions and cut tomatoes-
In a pan heat oil and then fry onions till golden brown,add the paste and fry it till it’s golden brown.add cut tomatoes,salt to taste and turmeric powder to it and water to the fried paste and put the lid on for it to boil for few minutes till the mixture is well cooked, add the balls to the curry ! Tada!! you are done!!Garnish with cut coriander leaves and serve it hot!! Enjoy your delicious kofta curry with chapati or bread!
